Fethiye is located in the Mediterranean Region of Turkey. Fethiye, originally known as Telmessos, has been around for approximately 2,500 years and was later renamed to Fethiye to honour Fethi Bey one of the first pilots in the Ottoman Air Force. Fethiye is an ideal location with its all year sunshine and mild but wet winters, beautiful mountain views, stunning coastline, culture and history. Fethiye is locacted 60 km from Dalaman aiport which is open all year for domestic flights and some international flights.

For history lovers Fethiye is the place to be with the castle ruins and Lycian rock tombs carved into the hillside above the old town, ‘Paspatur’, the ampitheatre, several sarcopaghi and Fethiye museum to visit. A short drive away are the ancient cities of Tlos, Letoon, Pinara, Xanthos, Cadianda, Kayakoy and many more.

Moored at the harbour you will find many of the traditional Turkish wooden boats (Gulets) and Daily trip boats which can show you the beautiful islands found within the vast Fethiye bay. Also around the harbour area are many superb restaurants if you fancy a lovely evening meal gazing at the beautiful views. Fethiye promenade has recently been extended and is nearing completion. The palm tree lined promenade offers a flat walk or cycle to Calis Beach and back.

You will never run out of things to do in Fethiye including exploring the shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs in the old town, walking along the harbour and enjoying a meal in one of the many bars and restaurants, taking the water taxi to Calis Beach, spend at relaxing day on the beach at Oludeniz or Calis Beach, visiting the Ghost Town at Kayakoy, have a turkish bath, and enjoying fish at the Fish Market. The old centre of Fethiye bazaar area (paspatur) is not far from the harbour and has many winding cobbled streets with shops selling locally made handicrafts, leather and jewellery. Fethiye’s oldest Turkish bath is also located here, where you can enjoy the traditional olive oil soap suds scrub down and relaxing massages. It is best to visit the Turkish bath at the beginning of your holiday to prepare your skin for a lovely even tan. Most visitors to the area know Fethiye mainly for it’s diverse Tuesday market, which is definitely an experience not to be missed and a chance to try your hand a haggling over the price of souvenirs.

Those wishing to explore further afield try one of the many excursions to Dalyan Rock Tombs and mud baths, walk up Saklikent gorge and visit Tlos and Yakapark, take a trip to Ephesus and Pamukkale, go an a Jeep Safari, have a wander round Gocek harbour marvelling at the yachts moored there.

The more adventurous can try paragliding in Oludeniz, visit the water parks in Ovacik or Calis, horse riding, scuba diving, river rafting, kite surfing and much more.

Relaxing days can be spent on one of the many beaches round Fethiye. Most can be reached by the local dolmus (bus) or you may wish to hire a car. Why not try Belcekiz Beach or the Blue Lagoon in Oludeniz, Gemiler beach, Katranci Beach or the beach at Gunluklu. For a day with a difference take a trip to Kabak and spend the day on the beach or at one of the restaurants / guest houses overlooking the bay.
